Inspiration: “Very interesting pieces, big or strange, we wanted to create something related to [the idea],” explained Piccioli of the Renaissance inspired collection. “It’s like [the models] are dreaming about something mysterious.”
Trends: Each look in Valentino’s neo-classical influenced collection is a work of art, from the dresses boasting gothic and religious graphics to the ornamented brocade gowns under rounded wool capes. An incredibly royal showing, luxury drips from each style, whether in the meticulously crafted silk silhouettes, embroidered handiwork, gold stitching, or lace and gem detailing. Despite the extravagance, however, Grazia Chiuri and Piccioli manage to keep the collection from appearing so avante-garde their designs are no longer wearable.
