Vanity Fair …

I do my makeup on the bedroom floor. I sit on a towel, arrange my products, primp and prettify, all while keeping one eye on The Today Show. By the time I’m done, I’ve made a mess. There’s powder on the carpet and mascara on the mirror. I collect all my goodies and brushes (if my puppy hasn’t claimed one as a toy), throw them in a lipstick-smeared bag, and chuck the bronzer-stained towel in the ever-growing laundry pile.

I know it sounds silly, but I dream of having a vanity. I would adore a pretty and glamorous table I could call my own. Not a desk where we can pile mail and bills and paperwork … Not a nightstand where we can keep the clickers … but a pretty little place where I can neatly organize my collection of perfumes, lotions, and potions.  A chic vanity would take the chore out of getting ready. But frivolous furniture is not an option in my New York City one-bedroom apartment. So, until I have the extra space (and cash!), I’ll have to indulge my vanity with a little wannabe window shopping …

P.S. Yes, I’m twentysomethingorother and after extensive online browsing on the most trusty furniture web sites, all of my favorite vanities are from Pottery Barn Teen.  Their stuff is just so sweet and whimsical – perfect for girlie girls of every age … I’ll never grow up.
