Vivienne Westwood has lived a colorful life to say the least. The orange-hue haired designer, activist, and grande dame of punk is adding a new title to her resume: author. The woman who designed Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding dress is partnering with British actor and award-winning writer Ian Kelly on a part personal memoir, part authorized biography, Women’s Wear Daily is reporting.
“The living deserve respect,” Westwood told WWD. “The dead deserve the truth; Ian and I are working together on this, and I am excited that this will be my story, the story that nobody ever did before.”
This isn’t Kelly’s first time writing about a legend. Previously he has written about men’s fashion icon Beau Brummell, grande cuisine originator Antonin Carême, author Giacomo Casanova, and comedic writer Samuel Foote. Actually, it was Brummell’s bio that alerted Westwood to Kelly’s wordsmith skills.
The biography is slated to hit shelves October 2014 and will feature letters and stories contributed by friends of Westwood’s like Pamela Anderson, Prince Charles, Naomi Campbell, Jerry Hall, Bob Geldof, and Julian Assange.
