Style Scoop: Vogue’s September Cover Has 9 Models On It, Tavi Gevinson Thinks Fashion is “Goofy,” New York Magazine Changes Film History With Clothes

StyleScoopAug15It may not be accurate to say that things of good quality leak—but in this case, it definitely is. That’s right, a photo of Vogue’s September issue cover is swirling out there in Internet-land for all to see. And there’s actually a model on the cover! Oh, wait: there are nine. That’s right, read it and weep, people: Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente and Andreea Diaconu are your Vogue September cover girls. Incase you forgot, Tavi Gevinson hasn’t even been to college yet. The editor/curator and mastermind behind Rookie has taken on more roles than one might think a high school student ever could. In just 18 years, she’s made herself a fashion icon, an actress, a friend of Karl Lagerfeld and Anna Wintour and more. And now, she’s the subject of a Rolling Stone feature, in which she explains why she “left fashion”: she says, “I was like, ‘This is so goofy: We’re watching people wear clothes.” Touche, Tavi. For New York’s Fall Fashion Issue, photographer Bobby Doherty is throwing it back—sort of. Doherty insterted items from the season’s runways into stills from iconic movies like The Wizard of Oz, Cleopatra, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and American Hustle. The spread is so convincing that it took a look at the accompanying explanation chart to separate the old films from the new garments. [The Cut]

Let’s face it, sports bras just aren’t the most comfortable garments in the world. We’d much rather rock a pair of Stan Smiths or a track jacket to channel “athlete” than one of those entrapments. But alas, they can be somewhat of a necessary evil—but they don’t come completely without a sort of instructions manual. Read what Julie Igarashi, vice president of global design for Nike Women’s Training and Audrey Kirkland, the New Balance brand manager of sports bras, have to say about boobs and bras.  [Fashionista]

Cara Delevingne wore a pizza suit. That is all. [The Cut]
