What to Wear on a First Date

What to Wear on a First Date

First dates can be nerve-racking enough without having to worry about lipstick on your teeth or being so nervous you knock over your water glass (it’s happened to us). Picking the right outfit can also be a major anxiety-inducing factor before a first date, so we’re here to help. The key is to be cute, to be comfortable, and, most important, to be yourself! One foolproof, and maybe slightly obvious, method is to pick an outfit you already own and love. Whether it’s your favorite sundress or a pair of jeans you look rockin’ in, you’ll be wearing something you know you’ll be comfortable in and you won’t have to spend any money. But sometimes you crave something new, and we understand that. Go back to your closet and pick an outfit you adore and ask yourself what makes you feel that way. Does the dress hit you just at your natural waistline giving you gorgeous curves? Do those jeans have the perfect dark rinse? Take notes and keep in mind what aspects of this outfit make you feel the most fab and take those to the store with you. Don’t settle for anything less than a fabulous, flattering fit. Make sure you really like it too—there’s nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in your own skin, and your date will pick up on that even if it’s not consciously. Wear whatever makes you feel like you and you’ll never fail. In case you need some inspiration, here’s our dream first-date outfit: a pair of skinny jeans, a fabulous top, and some cute boots.

1. Bauble Bar Pearl-Button Pendant, $34
2. Zara Combined Embroidered Blouse, $50
3. Vince Denim Five-Pocket Skinny Jeans, $195
4. Jeffrey Campbell Rumble Boots, $155
