I grew up in Texas, where in the summer shorts weren’t just a wardrobe option, they were a way of life. Funnily enough though, I can’t really remember people dressing their shorts up for evening (I distinctly remember my mother telling me that one could not wear shorts out to dinner, and that we’d have to suffer in pants or wear a skirt). So for the longest time, I never considered shorts to be an appropriate evening option. And they’re still not—for many things.
But casual weekend date night? Totally legit. Especially if you stick to a monochromatic color palette, and accessorize with bright, luxe pieces like this sick gold clutch and cuff. I mean, c’mon — isn’t this look far more put together than basic jeans?
