My husband and I were talking with my sister-in-law over the phone recently, and she mentioned that she had gone apple picking with our nephew and some other family members. “Apple picking?” we asked, “near New York City?” As it turns out, sort of. The family had driven upstate just a little ways — maybe an hour or two — and found a farm where you could pick to your heart’s content. I was so charmed by this idea — there’s something so quintessentially fall about it. Can you imagine? Spending the day outside, the air crisp and cool, sipping hot cider, donning your favorite cable knit sweater. It made me want to plan my own apple picking excursion…so of course, I had to think about what I would wear to such an occasion!
Climbing ladders and traipsing around in the orchard definitely calls for a good pair of rubber boots. I’d throw on some comfy but cute dark skinny jeans, and an oversized sweater too. I think I’d hate having my hair in my face while up on a ladder, so a baseball cap (made modern) would solve the problem nicely.
What about you? Do you partake in any fall traditions like apple picking or visiting a pumpkin patch?
