Who Says Stripes Make You Look Fat? Here’s How to Wear ‘Em Right

Stripes can be tricky, but knowing how to style them, whether they be horizontal or vertical, thick or thin, blunt or bright, can make all the difference between an outfit deemed chic and one that’s just weak. Femguide reiterates in their rules for wearing stripes, “It is true that stripes can slim you down or even make you look heavier, so it’s good to be cautious about horizontal and vertical stripes.” Vertical stripes run up and down and have a reputation of usually making you look longer and leaner, but those pesky horizontal designs can actually be used to slim you down too if you place them correctly. Small, black stripes that run side to side are always a good way to go as they’re not overwhelming to one’s frame. Don’t wear them all over, but rather boast the print on one article of clothing, like Song of Style does with her black and white slim striped  turtleneck, and stick to slimming neutrals and flattering monochrome layers for the rest of your outfit.
