Why The Delano is Still Miami’s Chicest Hotel

By  August 06, 2010

While new hotels continue to sprout in South Beach, The Delano remains the city’s most alluring property. An insider feel prevails at the Ian Schrager created property; this spot launched the boutique hotel obsession and remains an archetype of service and style.

We found ourselves by the pool on a steamy Saturday in July and we’re cooled down with frozen grapes, ice cream bites, and mini cocktails. And after a day sweltering in the sun, heading back to the room provided a tranquil respite from the heat. Plus…nothing says sleek like all white room interiors. We love the fresh and airy feel of the soft comfy beds and the cool edge provided by the patent leather head boards. Though cocktails are pricey and scoring a pool-side cabana is quite expensive, if you’re with a big group we suggest you splurge.

Even if you choose to go out for dinner elsewhere, come back to the hotel for some late night revelry. Dance in the pool or lounge on an ottoman and soak in the sizzling scene. The Florida Room starts bumping at 11pm so secure  a spot on the guest list and rub elbows with South Beach socials and local stars. If you’re looking for something a bit more low key, Rose Bar exudes a sense of old world elegance and trust us….the drinks are divine.
