If you’ve ever seen a Zac Posen runway collection or marveled at one of the wedding dresses he’s custom designed for celebrities and models including Gwyneth Paltrow, Coco Rocha, and Portia de Rossi, you understand the majestic feeling that he creates. One peek at the price tag, and you’ll also understand that it’s out of the budget for most brides to be.
That’s all changing.
In order to allow brides all over the world to feel the Posen magic, he’s partnered with David’s Bridal on a line of wedding gowns! The collection, called Truly Zac Posen will launch in February 2014 and feature six ivory styles, ranging in price from $850 to $1,350. ”I have such a wide fan base and audience base and diverse base. I wanted to find a place where I could actually address them and dress them,” said Posen.
Expect Posen’s signature style: figure-flattering corsetry, pintucked, herringbone-like seaming as well as delicate touches like tulle textures, corded boning, and rhinestone beading. “I like textures to blend, feel romantic and sophisticated, where the textures become a discovery as you come closer to the dress,” he explained of the line’s aesthetic.
And he’s not stopping at wedding design. Seeing as Posen’s worked with celebrity brides, he has more than a few pieces of advice when it comes to the wedding day details as well. “You should never skimp on food. Good food makes a good party. And good music, never skimp on good music.” When it comes to gifts, he likes to buy plants for people to represent the growth of a new family coming together.” Cue the swooning.
Don’t worry if you haven’t found your prince yet. Posen also created five social occasion dresses for those who are heading to a wedding as a guest, ranging in price from $195 to $225.
