Your Zara Obsession Made This Man the Richest in Europe

If you had to guess the richest European in the fashion industry, who would you pick?

Would you guess Amancio Ortega, the Spanish founder and owner of Zara’s parent group, Inditex?  The Sunday Times released its annual Rich List top 1,000 and 10 of the 25 richest people made their money in fashion, beauty or luxury goods!

Ortega is number one but the Beckhams made a surprising leap from $16 million to $350 million, thanks to the growth of Victoria’s clothing line. Not surprisingly, The Weston family that controls Selfridges and Primark are worth an impressive $122 million dollars. Arcadia’s owner Philip Green is worth $6 billion. Tamara Mellon, who co-founded Jimmy Choo is worth $300 million. The former face of Burberry and Lancôme, actress Emma Watson is worth $5 million.

New Londoners, Selma Hayek and her husband, Kering CEO Francois-Henri Pinault, were fifth on the fashion millionaires list with an estimated worth of $4 million dollars.

The families that control Matalan, New Look, Monsoon, Mulberry and Rivers Island also made the list.
