Enzyme Peels Are The Facial Going Viral For Serving Radiant Skin Without The Stinging

Buying multiple skincare products to achieve glowing skin can take you through much trial and error before you find one that works. Yet some products only work a few times before your skin gets used to them, making you feel that they're not giving you the same results. While products never stop working to help improve your skin, your needs could change. Treatments such as face peels, however, can give your skin the boost it needs since they're applied once a month. For example, enzyme peels are receiving a lot of hype for their glowing, radiant results without being harsh on the skin.

Enzyme peels are an exfoliating treatment that uses enzymes to remove only the dead skin cells and leave you with brighter, hydrated skin. You can ask to include one during your facial treatment — even facial treatments for sensitive skin, since enzyme peels work perfectly on any skin type.

On the other hand, chemical peels remove the top layer of your skin but can cause stinging and redness, so even though they're used to reduce wrinkles and improve scarring, they can affect different skin types. Enzyme peels, however, have many benefits that will revitalize your skin and give it that inner glow look. TikTok user @sydandkatie filmed her enzyme peel process and the results, giving her a glowing complexion for more than 36 hours. Here's how her journey went.

Enzyme peels stay on for 45 minutes

Like most skincare treatments, enzyme peels should be applied by a professional aesthetician, at least your first time to ensure it's done correctly. After that, you can buy at-home enzyme peels or recipes for a DIY peel made with fruit, since they're fruit derivatives. You can use fruit like pineapple, papaya, pumpkin, and pomegranate.

TikToker @sydandkatie went to her usual aesthetician to rejuvenate her skin with an enzyme peel before her wedding. Her aesthetician started by cleansing her skin, applying a chemical exfoliant, and extracting blackheads and whiteheads. After the pre-work, @sydandkatie's aesthetician applied the enzyme peel, starting from her neck, and worked it up to her face, leaving it on for 45 minutes.

Over time, the enzyme peel hardened, working magic to clear all the dead cells, with @sydandkatie claiming she didn't feel any burning or irritation the entire time it was left on. After 45 minutes, her aesthetician started dissolving the peel and moisturizing her skin. The enzyme peel left @sydandkatie's skin with a small amount of redness that went away after a few minutes. As the hours passed, she noticed her skin was smoother than ever and getting more radiant. Once she reached the 36-hour mark, her skin was still glowy, clear, and bright.

Benefits of enzyme peels

As mentioned earlier, enzyme peels offer numerous benefits, like giving you smoother, glowing skin without feeling like your face is burning. They also help reduce hyperpigmentation, signs of aging, and sun damage, since they're meant to stimulate the epidermis by getting rid of bacteria, dirt, and dead skin cells. The highlight of enzyme peels is that they're safe for all skin types. If you've tried a chemical peel to get rid of acne scars on sensitive skin, you might never want to do it again, while enzyme peels are better for your skin type and will still give you the same benefits.

In addition, enzyme peels are a lighter and gentler exfoliant. You can use them twice a week as part of your skincare routine because they only focus on the dead cells on the epidermis — unlike chemical peels, which often target dead skin cells and some live ones. You'll notice results immediately after your treatment, while it takes two to three weeks after chemical peels to see changes in your skin. If you ever have to attend an event and don't have enough time to prep your skin, you can do an enzyme peel the day before to make your skin feel rejuvenated and radiant.
