While she usually wears a trio of poppies in a brooch, this year she freshened up the look with a single, slightly larger poppy that was wider in diameter than in years passed. Under the flower was a brooch of gold wings. Kate's mother-in-law Queen Camilla wore three poppies instead.

Unlike the hat worn by Queen Camilla, the princess' headpiece did not include a wide brim and did not cover the entirety of her head. The chapeau wrapped around her forehead and was fastened to the base of her hair while peaking up in the back.

The compact hat shape drew attention to Kate's camera-ready hair. Her rich brown locks included subtle blond highlights and fell perfectly behind her shoulders. Beneath her tresses were dainty pearl earrings with a teardrop detail for a lovely touch of elegance. These earrings previously belonged to Princess Diana and were given to her as a gift celebrating her engagement to then-Prince Charles. Kate opted for minimal makeup which showcased her natural beauty. The look mirrored her outfit from the previous night at the Festival of Remembrance where the princess wore a black dress with a white collar that was lined with lace and held her poppy accessory.
