It’s the season of celebrity hair transformations, and Anne Hathaway is joining the club. The 36-year-old actress just chopped her chestnut hair into a ’70s-inspired shag, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel, and she looks so chic.

The stylist, whose clientele also includes Charlize Theron and Reese Witherspoon, posted a black and white image of Hathaway’s new look with the caption: “New cut. New vibes.” He also divulged that the shoulder-length cut was done for promotion of Hathaway’s upcoming film, The Hustle.

The haircut also happens to be the perfect mid-length style for spring and summer, especially if you’re not willing to commit to the super-trendy blunt bob. It’s choppy and full of texture but doesn’t look dated. Abergel added that the shag works best if your hair type is straight or wavy, since so many layers can make curly hair pouf out.

Summer S.H.A.G. on @annehathaway. This cut is perfect if you have straight or wavy hair. To achieve this wavy texture on straight hair here are some easy steps!!!!!! ❤️ 1. Apply @virtuelabs Volumizing primer everywhere, then rough dry the hair until it’s completely dry. 2. Add some random waves with a curling iron, a 1” iron is perfect. 3. Break down the texture with @virtuelabs Moisture Defining Whip and a small dab of @kristin_ess Shine Serum. 4. Tilt hair to side and apply from ends towards roots ( repeat on both sides) and finally 5. Diffuse product in hair. If you already have wavy hair, skip a lot of these steps and only do steps 3,4 and 5. #hairbyadir #annehathaway #shag #shaghaircut

Not exactly wash-and-go waves, but it’s a great style for special occasions.
