Bella Hadid Went Back To Her Natural Blonde Roots For Spring

It looks like Bella Hadid has caught the spring fever. She is back to her roots (pun intended) with a brand new blonde look.

Earlier this week, the supermodel posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption, "Back to dirty blonde, back to my roots! Per @mertalas wishes."

Though only a few strands of hair are visible in the photo, the color transformation is clear. The warmer, honey-blonde shade enhances her sun-kissed skin and brings out her piercing blue eyes and freckles. It's an unexpected change for Hadid, who has said that having darker hair reflects her darker personality, but we certainly welcome it.

"I just have a darker personality. And my sister being blonde and me being brunette, it's a good separation," she said in a 2016 interview with Allure. While her signature brunette strands have served as a point of differentiation from her older sister Gigi, who is known for her beachy blonde hair, both are natural blondes.

Fashion photographer Mert Alas, who Hadid calls out in her caption, posted his own selfie with the model on Instagram. Both Hadid and Alas' posts suggest they spent the sunny day shooting together in Cappadocia, Turkey, which is the reason behind the hair makeover.

The first sunny day of spring always seems to spark an urge to go blonde, and Hadid isn't the first celebrity to stun audiences with a lighter new 'do. The Kardashians have been taking turns going various shades of blonde, with Khloe choosing full-on platinum, while Hilary Duff and Shay Mitchell also recently revealed brighter shades. Even men are opting for lighter hair! Channing Tatum broke the internet with his buzzed blonde selfie and Zac Efron has been seen sporting the color, too.

In comparison, Hadid's new look is definitely not the most dramatic we've seen, but it certainly suits her. Perhaps she'll embrace her roots permanently, blessing the Internet with blonde beach selfies all summer long.
