Need more proof the pink hair trend is here to stay? Pop icon Britney Spears just debuted pastel pink strands on social media.

On Monday, Spears revealed her new hair color on Instagram, posting a series of photos and videos of herself wearing a leopard print catsuit. “Miss pussycat loves to bite 😬😼🐾… be careful ladies and gentlemen,” she captioned one of the posts.

Her signature blonde strands now have a pink dip-dyed effect, with pale pink sections framing her face and a more subtle gradient of color cascading down the back. Her base color is still blonde (with darker roots) toward the top of her head.

Because she didn’t offer any details on the transformation, the inspiration behind her trendy new look is unclear. However, the freshly-dyed pink strands match the playful vibes she been presenting on Instagram lately.

Spears regularly posts videos of herself dancing, playing dress-up, and goofing around in her home. And recently, after a wave of documentaries about her life, the popstar took to Instagram to remind fans that she is enjoying her life.

“I’m thrilled to remind you all that although I’ve had some pretty tough times in my life … I’ve had waaaayyyy more amazing times in my life,” she wrote, adding some of the things she is grateful for, including travel and dancing.

Whatever the reason for her new hair color, it’s a fun change for Spears. She’s known for her platinum blonde hair and has only worn darker hair colors a handful of times since she stepped into the spotlight in 2000. The last time she dyed her hair a different color was in 2019, when she opted for a smokey medium-brown shade.

Spears now joins the ranks of Chrissy Teigen, Lana Condor, and Demi Lovato, who have all gone pink in the past couple of months. The playful trend became big during the pandemic, when everyone was quarantined at home and dying their hair with box color.
