Bad Gal RiRi set the internet ablaze last week when she announced the launch of a new Fenty Beauty lip product, the red-hot Stunna Lip Paint. Here’s what I know: Lip Paint is a super-pigmented, semi-matte, longwear liquid lipstick. There’s only one shade (that I know of), and it’s a true red that’s aptly named Uncensored. “The perfect red is hard to get right, and it’s really hard to find your red that works on your skin tone,” Rihanna said in a statement, but this one was formulated to set beautifully while flattering all skin tones.
Considering the original collection launched with 40 shades of foundation to ensure a match for every skin color, this shouldn’t take much convincing. But the Fenty Beauty Boss has been posting pics on Instagram if you need more proof. She even posted a tutorial earlier this week to show us exactly how to apply it. She captioned the post, “#stunna ? don’t laugh at my tutorial skillz ??♀️ @fentybeauty.” In the video, you’ll see that the color glides on smoothly and that it only takes one coat to cover her pout in the most striking red.
I’m all for a bold lip, so naturally I had to try this. I got my hands on a sample and followed RiRi’s swipe-by-swipe guide at my desk. I am never taking this stuff off. Seriously. My lips have never looked better—or bigger. See for yourself in the before and after photos below.
There are certain red lipsticks that have become so iconic you know them by name—think Ruby Woo by MAC, Jungle Red by NARS, and Le Rouge by YSL. I’m going to go ahead add Uncensored by Fenty Beauty to that list.
The plush, contoured wand hugs the curves of your lips for better control as you apply the liquid lipstick. Within seconds, the glossy formula dries into a semi-matte, intense red that doesn’t feel drying or look flaky. All of this together creates the illusion of an insanely-plump pout.
What’s best, though, is that this stuff lasts. I drank coffee, ate lunch, and anxiously bit my nails while writing this—sans any smears or smudging. “I wanted a lipstick that wouldn’t budge—even as you eat, even as you make out,” Rihanna said in the statement. I’ll have to report back on the latter (unless I can convince my work boyfriend Matthew that it’s all in the name of investigative journalism).
Stunna Lip Paint will be available at fentybeauty.com and sephora.com, as well as in stores, starting on November 23. You’re going to want to act fast, given how fast Fenty products are known to sell out. And at $24, trust me, this lip color is so worth it.
