Between blinged-out bobby pins, scrunchies, and snap clips, hair accessories are having a moment. The latest piece making waves this summer is the hair scarf -- and its undeniably chic. As demonstrated by fashion It girls, there are a ton of different ways to incorporate one into your look, from full babushka vibes to a pop of color in a ponytail.
Caroline Anderson, Style Expert at Anthropologie, tells The Zoe Reportthat the versatility of hair scarves are what make them so appealing. "I love styling a silk scarf as a belt, bracelet, around your neck, and even tied onto a purse,” she tells the publication. “With so many motif and size options, anyone can find a style suited to their taste and budget."
Silk scarves in particular can be great for hair, since the smooth material won’t pull or damage your strands. The simplest take on the trend is pulling one over the crown of your head and tying it at the neck a la your grandmother. To keep it from slipping, Refinery29 suggests placing a stretchy headband over your hair, then placing the scarf on top of that. You can tuck the scarf into the headband, which looks a lot more natural than securing it with bobby pins.
You can also use a scarf as a head tie by folding it and tying it closer to your hairline, or wrap one around the base of your ponytail for a playful look.
