Jennifer Lopez looked like she was dipped in gold (fitting) for a premiere of Hustlers this weekend, where she debuted a new blonde lob. Stepping onto the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival, the star of the film was wearing a gorgeous gold gown by Maison Yeya and a high-shine hairstyle to match.
Styled straight and sleek by celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, J.Lo ditched her long, luscious locks (yes, they were extensions) for a lob cut that skims the collarbones, showing off her luminous décolleté. She also made the switch from her signature honey-blonde hair color to a brighter, golden blonde shade. "Getting @jlo glam shiny and short," Appleton wrote in the caption of a photo he shared of Lopez.
To create J.Lo’s super-smooth look, Appleton told Allure that he used the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer professional edition to blow-dry her hair straight. Once dry, he flat ironed her hair even straighter and added Color Wow’s Pop & Lock Gloss Treatment ($20; dermstore.com) for a sleek finish.
Then, on Saturday, Lopez showed up at another TIFF event wearing a retro, red sequinned gown with her new haircut restyled by Appleton. This time, she wore it in a wet look that flipped out at the ends. (Leave it to J.Lo to make everyone’s hairstyle pet peeve look super chic.) Here, her blonde highlights and darker roots are also much more apparent.
If you were already tempted to go shorter this fall, this should be all the inspiration you need. J.Lo joins a number of celebs, including Lindsay Lohan and Reese Witherspoon, who have recently made the cut.
So, yeah, we’ll see you at the salon.
