Celebrity Esthetician Renée Rouleau Shares Her Unusual Secret For A Healthy Glow

In addition to a straightforward skin regimen, it turns out this skin wizard has a pretty unusual secret.
Rouleau taps into her skin’s healthy glow by hanging her head upside down for three minutes a day. “You can do this up against a wall in a headstand, during downward dog or by hanging your head over the side of your bed,” she says. “You should notice that after a few minutes, a slight redness will appear on the skin, and in the long run, it will appear ‘lit from within.’” That’s because the technique increases circulation in the face, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the cells in your skin and helping it achieve that coveted “inner glow.”
To help ignite her inner glow, Rouleau also follows a strict but straightforward morning routine. She starts by washing her face with a moisturizing cleanser to remove the oils secreted from the skin overnight without stripping it dry. Then, she applies an alcohol-free toner to support the skin’s moisture barrier and balance its pH. “It's important to apply a toner within 60 seconds of washing to avoid moisture evaporation from occurring,” she says. Her pick: the Energy Boosting Toner ($38) from her collection, which uses B12 and ginseng root extract to stimulate and strengthen the skin.
Next, Rouleau applies her antioxidant serum with vitamin C (68) to protect and brighten and follows up with a moisturizer that has SPF. “This is a step where you can multitask,” she says. “Just make sure to look for a skin-type appropriate formula for the best benefit.” Finally, she finishes with a light dusting of tinted mineral powder with titanium dioxide (a mineral sunblock ingredient).
