A Simple Makeup Routine For A Fresh-Faced Look

When it comes to summer beauty, I prefer a simple makeup routine. Not only does it look most natural, but if you pile on anything too heavy in the hot and humid weather, it’ll slide right off your face. Lightening your load doesn’t necessarily mean wearing little-to-no makeup at all, though – it’s all about finding long-lasting, lightweight products that look good – and glowy! – in natural light. And as a blogger, that’s exactly what I’ve been able to do. Here are my makeup picks for a fresh-faced look that holds up all day long, because the dog days of summer aren’t over yet!

1 NARS Radiant Longwear Foundation ($49; sephora.com)

“I’ve been using this foundation for years, and I apply it year-round. The liquid formula is light but very buildable, so I can use a smaller amount in the summer months. It also adds a subtle sheen, and my shade (Gobi) has yellow undertones that help neutralize my skin a bit.”

2 Wander Beauty Dualist Matte and Illuminating Concealer ($29; sephora.com)

“This dual-ended concealer is a travel-size stick, so it’s something I can take with me to touch up under my eyes or cover any unevenness throughout the day. I love Wander Beauty because their products cater to women on the go, which is great for summer travel.”

3 Avon Magix Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturizer ($14; avon.com)

“Lately, I’ve been using the Avon Magix Tint in lieu of bronzer to give myself more of a golden glow. I use one that’s a couple shades darker than my natural skin tone (light-medium) to get that sun-kissed look.”

4 NARS Orgasm Blush ($30; ulta.com)

“This blush is the perfect shade for me – perfectly pink yet golden and peachy at the same time. The formula blends into skin and gives the most flattering, healthy flush.”

5 Armani A-Line Liquid Highlighter ($38; sephora.com)

“I switch between a few different highlighters, but I’ve been reaching for the Armani A-Line Liquid Highlighter this summer since it’s so light and subtle for a true no-makeup look.”

6 Laura Mercier Eye Art Caviar Colour-Inspired Palette ($55; sephora.com)

“This palette has it all. I love that the shades can easily transition from daytime to more shimmery evening looks. Also, the shadows are long-lasting and never settle into the creases, even on the most humid of days.”

7 Nudestix Eyebrow Stylus Pencil & Gel ($26; sephora.com)

“I like a simple brow, especially in the summer, and I recently discovered these waterproof pencils from Nudestix. They come in any shade you could need (I use the dirty blonde) and have a strong-hold gel on the other end so your brows keep their shape all day.”

8 Hourglass Nº 28 Lip Treatment Oil ($49; bluemercury.com)

“Because I want my lips to look luscious — not chapped – when wearing my favorite summer lipstick shades, I supplement with this hydrating treatment oil. It also has a subtle plumping effect and protects against sun and other harsh environmental elements.”

9 Jane Iredale Balance Hydration Spray ($33; ulta.com)

“I set my summer makeup look with this face mist by Jane Iredale. It balances the skin’s pH and controls oil production for less shine. I highly recommend this for anyone with acne issues, but even if you don’t, your skin probably gets oilier this time of year, and this really helps.”

10 4Glam+4Recover Sheet Mask ($15; ipocosmetics)

“Finally, I want to talk about masks. I use this sheet mask when I need a quick refresher before applying makeup. It gently exfoliates for a smoother surface and imparts a lit-from-within glow. Plus, the price couldn’t be better.”
