Some say you shouldn’t drop hints about getting engaged, but the technique may have worked for Jennifer Lopez. Just over a month ago, her then-boyfriend Alex Rodriguez popped the question on the beach during sunset. What's more, he proposed with an enormous rock that has an estimated value of anywhere between $1-5 million. No big deal.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rodriguez revealed new details about the proposal – which, btw, took him six months to plan! At the beginning, Rodriguez reminds Fallon that the last time he was on his show, he was asking him if an engagement was in the works.
“Because Jennifer had a song ‘El Anillo,’ which means ‘The Ring,’ and I go — should have called it. ‘Hint, Hint.’ You got the hint,” Fallon replied.
Rodriguez continued: "Well, I knew I was in some trouble because you had 'El Anillo,' which was the song, and then she has a movie coming this fall called Marry Me, so...I got it."
Of course, this is a stretch. Surely Lopez didn’t write a song and a movie just to convince a man to propose. She’s too busy getting checks like Nike. But J.Lo is known to go after what she wants. In fact, she made the first move with Rodriguez.
In an interview for Vanity Fair, the megastar revealed that she mustered up the courage to talk to him while he was dining at a restaurant in Beverly Hills. He ended up calling her later that day, they went on their first date two days later, and the rest is history.
Lopez said it took only a year of dating Rodriguez to know she wanted to marry him. "When it happened, I think it was the right time. We both knew," she said during an interview with SiriusXMin. "It's great to have a best friend and a partner that you could really build with, and I just feel like with Alex and I, that's what it's like.”
BRB, going to drop some hints.
