Revlon has joined the ranks of beauty brands like Sephora and Covergirl working to be more inclusive in product development and campaigns. On Wednesday, the brand announced that Ashley Graham will be joining Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot as global ambassador for the Live Boldly campaign, which celebrates beauty, strength, and individuality. Given the lack of size diversity in beauty advertisements, this is great fit. Graham has long been an unapologetic advocate for body positivity, challenging the fashion industry, calling out brands for unrealistic images, sharing unretouched photos of herself, and launching size-inclusive fashion lines.
“Lipstick has no size, beauty has no size,” the model said last night at a campaign event. Trust me when I say that her confidence is contagious.
In the first image released from the campaign, Graham is joined by models Achok Majak, Rina Fukushi, Raquel Zimmermann, Imaan Hammam, and Adwoa Aboah (who is the also the founder of Gurls Talk). The six spokeswomen are shown strutting down the street, arm in arm, reminding us that beauty is not one shade or size.
“I am thrilled to be part of this timely and groundbreaking campaign with different types of women across races, ages and sizes, and to leverage this platform to continue to create positive change,” Graham said in a statement released by the brand. “To ‘live boldly’ is the mantra of my life. Every day in the mirror I say to myself, ‘I am bold, I am brilliant, I am beautiful,’ and together with Revlon, we can inspire all women to do the same.”
