Body shaming, especially on social media, has unfortunately become the norm. Women usually take the brunt of it, but apparently, babies are now being subjected. Yes, you read that correctly. Ayesha Curry recently posted a sweet family photo, only to receive hate for her 10-month-old son's weight.
Earlier this week, the 30-year-old Food Network star shared a a photo of her family celebrating her husband Stephen Curry‘s win at the NBA Western Conference Championship. On the right, the couple are seen standing with their two daughters, Riley (6) and Ryan (3), while Ayesha holds her son Canon.
She captioned the photo: "Infinitely proud of these guys. Gods grace and mercy continues to cover our family and we are so grateful. Not about wins and losses, it’s all about family. Moments like this simply put it all into perspective."
A super sweet moment, right? Well, it was, until one follower decided to comment on Canon's weight.
Ayesha responded to a comment asking if she was pregnant again by saying:
"absolutely not LOL. My 30lb son is just breaking my back in every Photo??♀️"
Tons of replies followed, most of which were shocked by Canon's weight. "30 lbs?!?!? He’s bigger than my 19 month old nephew ???❤️", one wrote. "30lbs at 10months?? Sheesh" said another.
But when one user suggested (in a now-deleted comment) that Ayesha "Maybe portion-control his food a bit," she had the last straw.
"Excuse you? No. Just no." she replied.
A flood of responses then came to Curry's defense, calling out the troll for their ridiculous comment.
"Maybe mind your biscuits a little bit," someone replied. "Portion control for a baby?? Where do these people come up with this stuff?? ???" added another follower.
Lots of fellow mothers also reached out with their support, saying that their babies' weights were similar to Canon's. "My 1st son weighed 30lbs at 9 months! Breastfed baby! Healthy and will be a tall boy. He is 2 now and so skinny. You’re a great Mom❤️" one user said.
At the end of the day, Canon's health isn't anyone's business besides his parents (and his doctor). Maybe someday internet trolls will realize that, but we're not holding our breath.
