Britney Spears is a lot of things: a singer, an actress, a dancer, a sex symbol, a bonafide cultural icon, and, of course, both the patron saint of the sexy schoolgirl look and a pioneer of the shaven head. But did you know she’s also a visual artist? Well, she is, and one of her paintings just sold for $10,000 at auction.

What’s more, it was purchased by Robin Leach, the former host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Because nothing screams “rich and famous” like owning the artwork of a fellow celebrity, right? All proceeds from the auction, which was called Vegas Cares and took place on the evening November 5, went to those affected by the Las Vegas shooting.
Leach was charged with auctioning the item off but opted instead to buy it for himself. The evening also featured appearances by Jewel, the Blue Man Group, and David Copperfield.
“I’m so proud to call Vegas my second home and I’m pleased to participate in this Vegas Cares show,” Spears said in a video message during the benefit. “The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward. All the proceeds from the winning bid go to Vegas Cares Memorial Fund. I appreciate your kindness and your generosity. I love you Vegas.”
Spears teased the artwork on Instagram a few weeks ago, sharing a video of herself listening to Mozart and painting on a lush balcony. What, that’s not what you imagine Britney doing in her spare time? While one of the paintings in the video looks to be the one purchased by Leach, there’s no word on what’s happening with the other one. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for it at Sotheby’s.
