John Legend was recently named People's Sexiest Man Alive, and of course his wife Chrissy Teigen had the most perfect reaction. The model and cookbook author teased the news on Twitter hours before the big reveal on Tuesday, and then let her signature humor roll with a series of jokes.
"I have big news and it’s killing me I can’t say it and it’s not a baby," the 33-year-old tweeted earlier this week. Shortly after People Magazine announced that Legend received the coveted title of "Sexiest Man Alive," Teigen tweeted: “My secret it out. I have fulfilled my dream of having boned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive!! An honor!!!!!” along with the magazine cover.
But that was hardly the end of her fun. Later, Teigen posted a video of her and Legend's two kids,3-year-old Luna and 18-month-old Miles, whining and asking to watch a movie after she asks them, "Are you so happy Daddy's the Sexiest Man Alive?"
"The kids...do not care," she wrote along with the clip.
Teigen also tweeted at her husband, "Come home please. we want to make fun of you in person," and later, "the sexiest man alive just made me a ham sandwich." She also updated her Twitter bio to reflect that she is “currently sleeping with People's Sexiest Man Alive.”
Of course, the trolls made themselves known, which she anticipated with one tweet reading: "I cannot WAIT for people to get mad about John being the Sexiest Man Alive. It’s my new Starbucks holiday cup.” When the hate inevitably started rolling in, the proud wife was well-prepared. One Twitter user said People made the wrong choice because Legend likely couldn’t “throw me over his shoulder when needed, or defend me better than I can," to which she replied, “Can I try to throw you?”
Clearly, the mom of two is having a ball poking fun at Legend's recent "achievement," which admittedly is pretty ridiculous. But still, it remains an iconic title that was originated by Mel Gibson in 1985, followed by mega-stars like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Idris Elba.
And not only is Legend physically attractive, he has a lot of other things going for him, too. For example, his unparalleled music skills and the fact that he is the youngest person to have achieved EGOT status. “I was excited, but I was a little scared at the same time because it’s a lot of pressure,” he told People. “Everyone’s going to be picking me apart to see if I’m sexy enough to hold this title. I’m [also] following Idris Elba, which is not fair and is not nice to me!”
