Despite her well-known battles with morning sickness, pregnancy did not stop Kate Middleton from getting on the tennis court today—however, she might have had a slight advantage over her opponents, who were children between the ages of 5 and 8. The appearance, which she made solo, took place at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton as part of her role as a patron of the Lawn Tennis Association.
“Every little girl and almost every boy wants to meet a princess and it got them very excited,” tennis pro Johanna Konta, who was on site at the event, told People.

While we’re used to seeing her in high heels (or at least comfortable wedges) and classy sheaths, Kate took the opportunity to dress down, embracing an athleisure look that consisted of a black-and-white jogging outfit and white Nike sneakers. Hey, if we had to make public appearances while pregnant, we’d want to be as comfortable as possible too. And while her baby bump is still basically imperceptible to the naked eye, but that hasn’t stopped the tabloids from obsessing about it.
Middleton is a longtime tennis player, and People reports that four-year-old Prince George has been getting into the sport as well.
“[Kate] says with George just being 4 he wants to whack a ball. So, she was asking what sort of stuff should be doing,” said Tennis Lawn Association coach am Richardson. “She said he’s interested in it but more in whacking the ball.”
