Kylie Jenner isn’t exactly known for being relatable on Instagram. Her feed is chock-full of lavish vacation pics, brand new luxury cars, and ultra-glam makeup looks. Sure, there’s an occasional bare-faced selfie and adorable photo of her daughter Stormi in the mix, but for the most part, Kylie is the the queen of aspirational social media. But on her recent Kylie Skin trip in the Turks and Caicos, the 21-year-old billionaire opened up about fame and anxiety.
Jenner shared a photo of herself during sunset and got real about her struggles growing up in a famous family. Things got particularly difficult for Jenner this year following the cheating scandal involving her sister Khloe Kardashian and former best friend Jordyn Woods. The youngest in the Kardashian/Jenner family admits that it has been difficult to stay sane at times, but says that she is still proud of the woman she has become.
“I’m proud of myself, my heart, and my strength. Growing up in the light with a million eyes on you just isn’t normal,” she wrote in the caption. “I’ve lost friends along the way and I’ve lost myself too sometimes. My first tattoo was ‘sanity’ to remind myself everyday to keep it.”
Though Jenner often shares pictures of her one year-old daughter, she doesn’t typically open up about motherhood. Her pregnancy was famously kept under wraps until she shared an intimate video about the journey with fans, titled “To Our Daughter.” In her post, she also hints at postpartum depression by saying, “I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole young adult life and after my baby I dealt with all the internal ups and downs. I felt like I had to find myself completely again.”
“I keep a whole lot to myself but just wanted to share and let you know I’m human,” she continues. “My life is not perfect and what you see here on social media is just the surface. Be gentle with yourself, move on, and let go. We are all capable of great things, worthy of love, and allowed to express ourselves.” Now, this is a sentiment we can stand behind.
