The name of the royal baby has been announced! Today, on the official Instagram account of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the family finally revealed the name of their newborn, who was born on May 6: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” they wrote alongside an adorable black and white photo of the family.
The photo was taken of Queen Elizabeth II meeting the baby boy, who is seventh in line to the British throne, with her husband, Prince Philip, and Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland also in attendance. It was shot by Chris Alle.
“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion,” the post continued.
The announcement comes shortly after the first photos of the family of three were released. “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing,” Markle said when asked what it’s like being a new mother in an earlier interview. ” I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” she added.
“It’s only been two and a half days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy,” Prince Harry added.
“They are so incredibly grateful for the warm wishes and support they’ve received from everyone around the world, since welcoming their son two days ago,” a statement read.
What a beautiful family! We look forward to watching them grow together.
