victoria’s secret fashion show

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made a major return to NYC, where the brand sent a slew of stunning models (Gigi! Kendall! Winnie!) and chart-topping performers down the runway. They even made it rain, right on the catwalk inside the venue at Pier 94. We were lucky enough to score a seat in the audience, so we could bring you the highlights from the show. Here’s what you don’t want to miss.

Some major models returned to the runway

A total of 60 models walked in this year’s show, with a mix familiar faces making their runway return and newcomers stepping on stage for the first time. Sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid returned after sitting out last year’s show, as did their fellow model pal Kendall Jenner. VS Angel Behati Prinsloo (who skipped out on last year’s show because she was pregnant with her second daughter) proudly suited back up in her wings, and Barbara Palvin and Toni Garrn also returned after a multi-year hiatus. As for the new faces to watch, Winnie Harlow and Duckie Thot made their major Victoria’s Secret debut. Others include Shanina Shaik, Leomie Anderson, Devon Windsor, and Kelsey Merritt (the first Filipino woman to rock the runway for the brand).

There were more performers than ever before

Always a great show, the brand outdid themselves this year with a total of six performers. Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora, Bebe Rexha, Shawn Mendes, and The Stumps wowed the crowd and interacted with the models as they strutted down the runway. It even rained as Ora performed, clad in a sexy black ensemble and stacks of gold jewelry. While they all dominated, it was Halsey that everyone was buzzing about when they left the venue. Not only did she sound amazing, but her abs could rival those of the models.

There was a hot new designer collaboration on the runway

Victoria’s Secret debuted their first-ever designer collaboration with Balmain during the 2017 show — and it didn’t end up being a one-time occurrence. For this year’s show, the lingerie giant teamed up with designer Mary Katrantzou. Katrantzou’s vivid prints are a staple on the catwalk during London Fashion Week, and now you can score her vibrant designs on lingerie-like pieces. An entire section of the fashion show, “Floral Fantasy,” was dedicated to the collab, and models rocked larger-than-life wings in eye-catching prints. Be sure to look out for Gigi Hadid’s beyond epic wings in this section.

It was Adriana Lima’s final show

After an impressive 20-year career at Victoria’s Secret, Adriana Lima is ready to hang up her wings for good. Just hours before she took her final walk down the runway, she took to Instagram to share the news that she was planning to retire after the 2018 show, and the brand found a very special way to honor her, dedicating an entire section of the show to the supermodel, who tearfully walked the runway alone as Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You” played. Lima was clad in a crystal-embellished bodysuit and beautiful white wings. A highlight reel from her famed career played, and she was dubbed “the greatest Angel of all time” — a title that’s certainly well-deserved. It was an emotional moment for the model, and we can’t wait to relive it when the show airs.

The audience was full of celebrity cheerleaders

The front row was like a cheering section filled with supportive significant others. We spied The Weeknd, who was there to watch on-again, off-again girlfriend Bella Hadid, Palvin’s boyfriend Dylan Sprouse (who came carrying a bag of Shake Shack for his GF to devour post-show!), and Prinsloo’s husband Adam Levine. Also in attendance was Kris Jenner, clad in an all-white suit, watching her daughter Kendall Jenner rock her wings. Yolanda Hadid was another #ProudMom in attendance. Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel also stepped out for the occasion, as did Delilah Belle Hamlin, a slew of Bachelor alums, Trevor Noah, Laverne Cox, and Diplo.

Be sure to tune into ABC on Sunday, December 2 to watch it all go down on the runway.
