5 Cocktails to Toast to the Oscars


Hollywood’s biggest night is just around the corner, and it seems the world is ready to celebrate right along with the nominees. If you’re feting the Academy Awards on Sunday with a viewing party or catching all red carpet action on Twitter you can give yourself the all star treatment by sipping these cocktails as you play Oscar Bingo or mark off your chances in your office’s Academy Awards pool. Cheers to an amazing awards show season!

Fashionably Late

1 ½ oz. Cruzan Strawberry Rum
¼ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
2 Dashes Bitters
2 oz. Ginger Beer
1 oz. Soda Water
1 Mint Spring

Combine the rum, lime juice, and bitters over ice in an Old Fashioned glass. Add the ginger beer and soda and give a quick stir to combine. Garnish the cocktail with a mint sprig.

Bold Berry Bling

1 ½ oz. Pucker Vodka Raspberry Rave
3 Fresh Blackberrues
2-3 Fresh Basil leaves
1 oz. Soda
1 oz. Lemon-Lime Soda

Squeeze the juice from the blackberries and add the berries to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Tear basil into small pieces and add as well as the vodka. Shake vigorously and add the soda and lemon-lime soda before pouring into a Collins glass.

Unchained Western inspired by Django Unchained

2-3 Chunks of frozen Pineapple
½ oz. Lemon Juice
1 tsp. Maraschino Syrup
2 oz. Rye Whiskey
Polar Lemon Seltzer
Lemon Twist

Muddle the pineapple, syrup, lemon juice, and whiskey in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake well, and strain into a coupe. Top with Polar Seltzer and garnish with the lemon twist.

Funny Guy Fizz inspired by host Seth MacFarlane

1 oz. Kilbeggan Irish Whiskey
½ oz. DeKuyper Apple Pucker
Ginger Ale

Fill a tall glass with ice. Add the whiskey and apple pucker and top with ginger ale.

Look Better Naked

1 ½ oz. Partida Estate Reposado Tequila
½ oz. Samazon Pure Organic Acai
¾ oz. Partida Organic Agave Nectar
4 in. Rosemary Sprig
½ oz. Organic Egg White
1 lime
Organic Salt
Fresh Cracked Organic Green Peppercorns

Rim a 10 oz. cocktail glass with equal parts organic salt and fresh cracked organic green peppercorns. Remove rosemary leaves from the woody stem and muddle in a cocktail shaker. Add the liquid ingredients and shake vigorously until shaker is frosted and strain into the cocktail glass.
