5 Pretty & Tasty Mother’s Day Gift Pairing Ideas

Mother's Day is right around the corner, and if you're anything like me, you want to gift mom with something that's both lovely AND thoughtful! So, instead of doing a standard “pretty things” gift guide round up this year, I thought it would be fun to come up with something a little more unexpected – like these creative gift and recipe pairings, which feature tasty treats that are inspired by the gift items themselves – and intended to be “served” alongside them!

The best thing about this kind of gift? Mom gets to enjoy that pretty cake stand or designer serving platter right away… and in an ideal world, she gets to be enjoying it withyou. With so many amazing recipes at our fingertips these days, you can probably find a great dish to compliment pretty much any gift for mom, so have fun with it! Here are 5 of my own favorite ideas to help get you started:

1. Serving Platter + Olio Santo Olive Oil

Paired with: Watermelon Salad with Mint and Crispy Prosciutto

This lovely {and sturdy melamine} serving platter is even more tempting with a refreshing summer salad on top… preferably one dressed with award winning extra virgin olive oil from Napa Valley!

2. Azul Oil Bottle + Gourmet Olive Oil

Paired with: Rosemary Olive Oil Bread or other Artisan Bread

Short on time? No problem! Just pick up a loaf of gourmet bread from your local bakery then spend a relaxing afternoon or evening “breaking bread” with mom. Don't forget the gourmet olive oil for dipping!

3. Decor Bon Bon Large Rimmed Pedestal

Paired with: Light & Fluffy Coconut Cake

This chic pale pink cake platter is already gorgeous on its own, but a fluffy white coconut cake makes it over-the-top irresistible! (also available in light blue)

4. Antique Rose Blue Tea Pot

Paired with: Russian Tea Cookies

As much a decoration as a serving vessel, this bright & colorful tea pot is guaranteed to be the life of the {tea} party. Every celebration calls for cookies though, so serve this beauty with a side of buttery, melt-in-your-mouth Russian Tea Cookies.

5. “Crave Plates” Set

Paired with: Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes OR Apple Spice Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Frosting

These artsy appetizer plates feature sketched designs for sweet, sour, salty and spicy, so there's plenty of room to have fun with recipes here. For a playful gift, set the sweet and sour plates on top and pair with Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes, OR feature the spicy and salty plates most prominently, along with a dozen Apple Spice Cupcakes with Salted Caramel Frosting. And of course if you're feeling like an overachiever, you can always make them both!
