5 Spooky Spirits to Serve at Your Haute Halloween Soiree


After all of the party planning and costume construction, Halloween is upon us! If you’re hosting a frightful fête this weekend, a classic cocktail won’t be enough to stir the spirits of your guests. Start you monster mash off right with one of these creepy cocktails and watch your party rise from the dead…at least until the sun rises. Muwhahaha!

Haunted Hacienda by John Henderson

1 ½ oz. Pisco Portón
¾ oz. sweet vermouth
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 Campari ice cube*

In a short rocks glass, combine Pisco Portón, sweet vermouth and dash of Angostura bitters. Place the Campari ice cube in glass and if desired, garnish with a SMALL pinch of pink salt. As the salt hits the cube, it will spur the Campari cube to melt.

*Campari ice cube: Overnight, freeze a mixture of Campari and water, at a ratio close to 50:50

Cruzan Black Widow

2 oz. Cruzan Black Cherry Rum
1 oz. Cruzan Vanilla Rum
1/2 part Chocolate Syrup
1 part Milk
Splash Grenadine

Combine all ingredients in a blender with 1/2 cup of ice and blend until smooth. Pour into a chilled glass drizzled with chocolate sauce. Top with whipped cream and garnish with a cherry.

Pinnacle Spooky Pumpkin Pie

2 oz. Pinnacle Pumpkin Pie Vodka
1 oz. Pinnacle Citrus Vodka
2 oz. Fresh Lemon Sour
1 oz. Fresh Orange Juice

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with graham cracker crust (optional).

Candy Corn Cocktail from Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse

1 oz. Godiva White
½ oz. pumpkin spice liquor
1 oz. vanilla vodka
Splash of cream

Shake over ice and strain into martini glass top with fresh whipped cream

Cacao Corpse Reviver Numero Dos by April Wachtel

¾ oz. Solbeso
¾ oz. Cointreau
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
Cocchi Americano and Absinthe Foam*

Build all ingredients except foam in a mixing tin. Add ice, shake and strain into a cocktail glass; garnish with ample topping of Cocchi/Absinthe foam.

*For the Cocchi Americano/Absinthe Foam:
Isi cream whipper (whipped cream canister)
1 cream charger (use 2 if you want more bubbles)
1 gelatin sheet
4 oz. Cocchi Americano
½ oz. absinthe (or several droplets for visual effect)
