This award season has been red hot with gorgeous gowns, dazzling jewels, and sultry beauty. Last week we joined a slew of other bloggers to talk red carpet style trends with celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis and makeup artist Bruce Grayson as part of StyleUnited by P&G. While we know how to achieve many of the looks that had us swooning, we picked up a few tips you may not take away from a regular how-to:
Contouring works best with full coverage foundation – Grayson noted that many starlets luminous skin that looked absolutely flawless and attributed it to the comeback of full-coverage foundation, Like CoverGirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. The even tone then allows you to sculpt your face to your liking by highlighting the peaks of the face and contouring the hallow points.
Heat Styling Needs a Strong Base – While styling products that help resist can help, the wear and tear can weaken strands. Francis explained that washing and treating tresses with Herbal Essences’Honey I’m Strong range can help repair damage and keep breakage at bay. “Most holding products have alcohol in it that can dry out hair and make it weak,” he said. For a touchably soft hold, he suggested Pantene’s Flexible Hold Hairspray.
Wet Hair Keeps the Crunch Away – Many be discouraged from using heavy pomades, gels, and mousse as it can regularly leave beauty babes looking and feeling crunchy. But Francis recommends not waiting until hair is towel dried to apply as long as you’re mindful of the amount. “The water can diffuse the product throughout the rest of the hair,” he said. “When [the hair] is towel dried it tends to stick in the one place you apply.”
You Can Thicken Tresses Without Extensions – Extensions have reigned supreme for many a season, but this one saw the likes of Charlize Theron embracing their shorter length and texture. If you’re still looking to pump up your hair you don’t have to suffer the strain of extensions. There are plenty of thickening treatments available, including Pantene’s Age Defy Advanced Thickening Treatment that you can use weekly.
A Flick Is All It Takes to Achieve the Perfect Look – We watched in amazement as Grayson ensured one of our fellow bloggers was red carpet ready and his constant flicking of the brushes he used before her applied. “We only have so much time before the celebrity we’re working with gets pulled away,” he explained. “It gets off the excess product to we don’t have to go back in and clean up.”
All these tips will sure come in handy with our beauty routine!
