… And the glitterati continue to migrate to Brooklyn.
Or at least Alexander Wang, now that he’s moved his New York Fashion Week show outer borough. Wang, who typically shows at Pier 94 in Manhattan, will present his Fall 2014 collection at the Duggal Greenhouse at 63 Ship Ways Avenue in the Brooklyn Navy Yard on February 8th at 8:30 p.m.
“We found this incredible space, and it corresponds very well to this season’s creative concept,” Wang told Women’s Wear Daily. He swapped time slots with his friend, Joseph Altuzarra, who will now show his collection at 5:00 p.m. that day. “We moved our show to the end of the day, to ease the flow of the schedule,” a Wang spokesperson said.
While many designers have made their discontent with the craziness that has come to surround New York Fashion Week known by choosing not to show at Lincoln Center, Wang is the first to leave the borough, sending his message loud and clear. If this is move is successful—and we’re not sure why it wouldn’t be as Wang’s show is one of the hottest tickets during NYFW—we’re excited to see the next designer to head across the river.
