American Express Makes a Day with Marchesa
If you’re not featured in print or the web, gaining access to you favorite designer is nearly impossible. But American Express is helping fashion savvy Platinum cardmembers achieve their dreams through their Premium Access program’s By Invitation Only events. The credit card company recently teamed up with Marchesa to hold a private fashion show for the brand’s Spring 2013 Bridal collection.
Insiders were able to step backstage as the models finished their fittings and shot the lookbook before sitting front row for the show where Marchesa’s wedding day confections were a true delight. The design duo’s signature use of silk tulle and lace transformed classic silhouettes into dreamy decadence. Standouts included a full-skirted tulle ball gown and a bateau neck long sleeve lace gown and full skirt for more traditional bridal elegance, plus a crepe satin column gown with an embroidered illusion bodice and a lace dress with a cascade skirt for exquisite alternatives.
Afterwards, cardmembers were able to meet Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig and check out some of the label’s iconic gowns worn by Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway on display. Those who were in a buying mood were invited to a private shopping experience with some of the designs from the current collection as well as the Lenox Tabletop line. Guests received hair and makeup consultations and even mingled with Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model and Dancing with the Stars vet, Petra Nemcova.
