“Jizz in My Pants.” “I’m on a Boat.” “Like a Boss.” Andy Samberg’s biggest hits have made it to Hollywood.
The Saturday Night Livealum’s The Lonely Island, comprising former SNL writers Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, is taking its Grammy-nominated talents to the silver screen. Universal Pictures gave the go-ahead to develop an untitled comedy from the jocular trio, “set in the world of music,” according to Variety. What’s even better is that Judd Apatow—whose comedic credits include Anchorman, Step Brothers, and Bridesmaids—is on board to produce the project.
Lonely Island, who originally teamed in Berkeley, California, won an Emmy in 2007, dropped its first album in 2009, and went on to be nominated for a Grammy that same year in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Close to that Macklemore moment, but no cigar.
If their upcoming film weren’t enough, The Lonely Island nabbed a deal with Fox to develop several digital series. In honor of their multimedia wins, here’s “D___ in a Box.”
