All eyes may be on AnnaSophia Robb as she takes on Sarah Jessica Parker's iconic character in her early years on the upcoming “The Carrie Diaries, but she only has eyes for some of the incredible designers showing during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. We got to sit down with the style-icon-in-training last night as she hosted an evening of pampering at the Frederic Fekkai Salon at Henri Bendel during Fashion’s Night Out to chat about what Carrie’s coveted closet will contain, what shows you can expect to spot her at, and what she keeps in her Fashion Week survival kit.
How did you feel when you were chosen for “The Carrie Diaries?
I was incredibly excited and honored! Sarah Jessica Parker made that character, and I was worried about taking it on. But I realized that the new show [The Carries Diaries] is completely different from the other – it’s a different audience, different age group. So I would be creating my own character.
Have you been able to raid the costume closet yet?
Not yet, but I was just in fittings a few days ago with Eric Daman, our costume director, and some of the pieces are amazing!
So what designers are you coveting for your own closet?
All of the designers I’m going to see this week – I love all of their work! I’m wearing an Erin Fetherston dress that I love. She has such feminine and elegant clothes!
So what shows will you be attending during Fashion Week?
I’m going to Jason Wu tomorrow. He’s so nice and lovely to work with. He’s designing a dress for me, and I am in love with it, so I can’t wait to see him! I’m also going to Rebecca Minkoff and Timo Weiland.
You’re going to be busy! What are your top three must-haves for your Fashion Week survival kit?
Foot pads. I have very small feet so I have some problems with my shoes, especially the high heels. So they’re a great help. I also have this great lip balm from Wholefoods that I love because it smells amazing. And the last are [Colgate] Wisps – they’re a must!
