Bette Midler is Taking her ‘Girls’ On Tour

Bette Midler, and all of her girls, are going on tour.

The Divine Miss M is embarking on a 22-date stint—her first in 10 years—to promote her new album It’s The Girls, in which she covers some of the biggest girl groups in history. The tour will kick off in Hollywood, Florida on May 8, 2015 and include Midler’s renditions of “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes, “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes, and “Waterfalls” by TLC, the latter of which peaked on the Billboard Trending 140 at number five.

“I picked the songs that had the most meaning to me,” Midler told AP. She also added “It’s like finding a beautiful piece of jewelry or clothing that you’ve totally forgotten about and it’s a little down-at-the-heel. You polish it up or you put some starch in it. Suddenly, it looks new again.”

Along with her new approach to those anthems, Midler is taking on a more progressive approach to touring.

“I don’t want to travel with 40 trucks. I don’t want to travel with 90 people,” she said. “Bruno Mars is my hero. Bruno Mars has eight trucks. If I tour, that’s how I want to tour. I don’t want the confetti cannons.”

Less theatrics, more Midler? We’ll take it.
