According to a screen grab from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers database, the two are putting a rumored rival to rest with a remix of Bey’s “Blow.” Though they’ve been photographed together at A-list events, most recently May’s Met Gala, the pair have never immortalized their relationship on wax. Rihanna, who is signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation, has been cited as a reason behind Jay and Bey’s reportedly contentious relationship, while loyal fans of both stars have pitted the two against one another in debates that have (luckily) been contained to the social media sphere and gossipy sites. If this collaboration ever sees the light of day, it could, once and for all, put all of that fodder to rest.
Now, before the BeyHive and Navy unite in yaaaaas unison, there are a few things we must point out. One, Riri’s name is spelled wrong on the ASCAP listing; this could be a red flag, but reports add that Rihanna’s name is misspelled on other registered songs throughout. Two, Nikita Riddick Victoria, who is listed as the song’s writer, is not associated with Beyoncé’s original “Blow.” Still, the person tied to this pseudonym has 67 other titles listed on the database.
Of course neither Bey nor Ri has made any mention of a collab, but the former’s “Flawless” reboot with Nicki Minajis an indication that she’s open to sharing the spotlight. Plus, we like the feisty side of Bey, and if anyone can take her sexually-charged single to new heights, it’s Lui’s leading lady.
