I'm not a vodka drinker per se. But I do love chocolate. So the very idea of chocolate-infused vodka had me feeling quite conflicted ... But it turns out the luscious libation is pretty versatile and very delicious.
Godiva Vodka hosted a luncheon earlier this week at the Standard Grill in New York City as part of the Manhattan Cocktail Classic. The delicious four-course meal also featured fabulous drinks made with the sweet and rich vodka ... I was skeptical. After all, I was about to eat salmon and asparagus -- it just didn't seem right. Ordinarily, I'd order a glass of crisp white wine and call it a delightful match. But, chocolate vodka, fish, and veggies just don't sound like a tasty trio.
Happily, after a sip and a nibble, I learned that you can pair Godiva Vodka with savory foods. It's subtly sweet and incredibly good. Here are two of my favorite recipes from the event... Enjoy!
The Ginger Snap
1/2 ounce Godiva Chocolate Vodka
1 ounce Amaro liqueur
2 ounces ginger beer
1/2 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce honey
Candied ginger for garnish
Combine Godiva Chocolate Vodka, Amaro liqueur, lime juice, and honey into a cocktail shaker.
Shake well and strain into a rocks glass.Top with ginger beer.
Garnish with candied ginger.
1 ounce Godiva Chocolate Vodka
1/2 ounce Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
1/2 ounce espresso
1/2 ounce strawberry puree
Pinch fresh vanilla
3 cofee beans for garnish
Combine Godiva Chocolate Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, espresso, strawberry puree, and fresh vanilla into a cocktail shaker.
Shake well and strain into a martini glass.
Garnish with coffee beans.
