Designer: Raf Simons
Inspiration: In an effort to make "sensible couture," Simons was inspired by the personal style of "women from different continents and cultures," according to The Telegraph.
Trends: Dior's free-thinking, multicultural collection features a mixture of traditional styles from a range of ethnic backgrounds and countries. Kimono inspired multi-material draped dresses and bright cocoon type coats represent Asia. Simons pays tribute to the European, more specifically Parisian, influences behind classic Dior with meticulously structured silk dresses and whimsical silhouettes. The Americas have a role on the catwalk thanks to a series of more sporty getups, including houndstooth pencil skirt suits and bold striped gowns. Lastly, ensembles boasting tribal beading and vivid primary colors are a reference to the Masai people in Africa.
Colors: Simons hardly stuck to a set palette for his globally influenced collection. From silver grey to tomato red, his hues extend all across the color wheel.
Who Was There: Well, notJourdan Dunn, who was cut from the show last minute as a result of her bust size....Sitting on the star studded front row, however, was Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Palermo, and Corine Roitfeld.
