Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2014

DESIGNER: Raf Simons

INSPIRATION: Silhouettes from the design house's past were updated with modern lightness and movement. The runway took place in a globe-like venue that Simon described as “a blend of white angular modernism and biomorphism echoing the female form” in the show's notes.

TRENDS: Simons' collection focused on one main theme: airiness. The designer achieved this through intricate cutwork, including slashed dresses, and multiple pieces with punched-out holes. Lightness also came from his choice of sweet styling and feminine textiles, like sheer overlays of taffeta and chiffon. Looks included circle skirts with graphic crop-tops, rounded coats and mini dresses, bubble-like inserts and draping, and intricately embellished jumpsuits.

PALETTE: white, black, navy, and pastels like mint, peach, and light blue.

WHO WAS THERE: Kate Bosworth, Miroslava Duma, Leelee Sobieski, Allison Williams
