Christian Dior Spring 2014

INSPIRATION: The Garden of Eden. Simons turned the Musée Rodin into his own seductively stylish green house and delved into the concept of “twisting, turning, and pushing Dior,” until “a beautiful rose garden becomes poisonous.”

TRENDS: Dior's collection began with fitted boat neck sweaters paired with skirts of every style, from flowing chiffon midis to satin tulip-top pencil silhouettes, and graphic daytime cocktail frocks with floral prints and quirky quotes. Oversized outer layers included double-breasted vests and blazers and knee-length coats. For evening, Simons showed a number of strapless, tea-length dresses of various fashions, some with bubble-hems, shredded streamer-like fabrics, and structured full-volume skirts.

PALETTE: very vivid colors including black, bubblegum pink, faded rose, red, shades of blue from sky blue, pearl azure, and midnight blue, beige, camel, slate, silver.

WHO WAS THERE: Eva Herzigova, Olivia Palermo, Leigh Lezark, Miroslava Duma, Emmanuelle Alt, Anna Dello Russo, French First Lady Valerie Trierweiler
