Cocktails to Create on Election Night 2012

Everyone will make their way to the polls tomorrow, and with such a tight race, everyone may need a cocktail or two to calm their nerves. If you’re looking to have a little fun with all of the political action, Debate Drinking has a few easy rules to follow. Hot buttons words like Ground Game, Firewall, Sandy, Photo ID, Recount, Youth Vote, Enthusiasm, the name of a third party candidate, Ohio, and Reagan are all up for grabs as we find out who will be the next leader of the free country. Here are a few cocktails to mix up while the results roll in.

The Running Mate by Rob Floyd

2 oz. Basil Hayden’s Bourbon
¾ oz. Cranberry Juice
¾ oz. Lime Juice
½ oz. Simple Syrup
1 pinch Edible Gold Dust

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake. Strain the mixture into a martini glass and garnish with two raspberries and one blueberry on a toothpick.

Mint Romney

Splash of Cream
Chocolate Syrup
Polar Mint Chocolate Seltzer
Spring of Mint

In a cocktail shaker, combine the cream and the chocolate syrup with ice. Shake vigorously and then pour into a glass. Top generously with Polar Mint Chocolate Seltzer. Stir gently and garnish with mint.


1 oz. Patron Tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
Pinch of Sea Salt
Polar Raspberry-Lime Seltzer
Fresh Pineapple

Combine all the ingredients, save for the seltzr in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Shake vigorously until the shaker shows condensation. Pout into a glass and top off with Polar Seltzer and garnish with a skewered pineapple wedge.
