Glam caught up with Rodney Cutler, owner of Cutler Salons, as balances 10-20 mile bikes and runs, styling clients, writing for Esquire, and prepping for Fashion Week. Here he shares his daily schedule:
I wake up and get dressed for my daily 10-20 mile bike ride, run or swim, depending on what I’m in the mood for that day. Whether I’m training for my bi-annual Ironman Triathlon, a New York marathon or just for my peace of mind, I always try to make time in the morning for this.
Back from my workout, I take a hot shower and prepare myself for the busy day ahead. I usually like to use Davines NaturalTech Purifying Shampoo, Redken for Men Finish Up Daily Weightless Conditioner and Dial for Men Speed Foam Body Wash.
For breakfast, I like to eat with my family before leaving the house. They know how to keep me calm and centered before a crazy day. I usually have an egg white omelet with whole-wheat toast and coffee.
I head into the city to one of my three New York City salons depending on where I have clients booked. After all of these years, I still love what I do, especially meeting and interacting with my clients.
I settle in and spend the next couple of hours servicing clients.
I take a break to sit and brainstorm my next story as contributor for Esquire. I’m thinking perhaps a story on how to get the perfect shave or choose the best cologne for your personality. A lot of guys don’t even know the difference between eau de toilette and cologne.
I rarely have time for a sit down lunch. I grab something fast in between clients at the salon.
In between clients and meetings, I head over to The Rachael Ray Show to film the Golden Globe Makeover segment, recreating Anne Hathaway’s haircut. I love working with their team and always have so much fun when I’m filming with them.
As Redken's Global Brand Ambassador, I run through some ideas for a video project that my team and I will present at the Redken Symposium in Las Vegas.
I have a quick call with my PR team to discuss fashion week activity. Over the next few weeks, my days will be filled with calls and meetings discussing fashion week looks and inspirations with various designers as well as hair tests, all in preparation for the February shows.
I finish my day off by leading the Cutler team backstage at a charity fashion show at the New York Public Library.
