Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2014
DESIGNER: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana
INSPIRATION: The collection, titled “Enchanted Sicily,” was inspired by fairy tales and folklore.
TRENDS: The romantic inhabitants (aka the models) of Dolce and Gabbana's enchanted garden donned Little Red Riding Hood-esque outerwear, gowns fit for a fairy princess, and gloves and headwear reminiscent of the gilded protection worn by a knight. Shift dresses, boxy tops, and cape coats were made of tapestry like textiles featuring of woodland creatures such as owls, foxes, swans, squirrels, and birds. Print free frocks of sheer lace and silk gave off the romantic allure of a castle maiden. The show concluded with a catwalk full of “fireflies”–models in black and silver sequined and sparkling bodysuits with broad shoulders and an armor like aesthetic.
PALETTE: Black, red, plum, gold, royal purple, silver, copper, dark sea green.
WHO WAS THERE: Anna dello Russo, Kate King, Daisy Lowe, David Gandy, Bianca Balti.
WHO SHOULD WEAR IT: Red carpet style stars with a playful aesthetic who aren't afraid to borderline on avant-garde during an evening affair like Katy Perry, Zoe Saldana, and Paloma Faith. Fashion industry leaders such as Anna dello Russo, Lauren Santo Domingo, and Miroslava Duma who understand how to break the rules in a refined way.
