Emmys 2013: Get Christina Hendricks’s Soft Curls and Sultry Makeup
Christina Hendricks took a romantic turn on the red carpet of the Emmys, starting with her sultry black lace Christian Siriano gown. In lieu of the disheveled natural beauty she rocked in the front row of Jenny Packham’s Spring 2014 show, she opted for cute curls customized by Gregory Russell and smoldering eye and bold lip from Vanessa Scali.
Inspired by the ‘30s, Russell began by prepping Hendricks’ locks with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse at the root and lengths before a rough blowdry. When it was almost dry, he used a Mason Pearson brush and blew out the hair in sections for texture and bounce. He created a deep side part, sectioned the hair, sprayed with the Waves Hairspray, and curled with a half inch curling iron for 15 seconds each. For the rest of the hair, he alternated between a half in curling wand and a half inch marcel iron. He pinned the curls to cool for 15-20 minutes to create a tight wave, backcombing the unpinned hair by the nape for volume and shape. He added a dollop of the Pro Series Color Gloss Crème at the part for definition and polished the look with the Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray.
Scali started Hendricks’ sultry look with the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules to primer and perfect the skin before evening the tone with the Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup and Ceramide Lift and Firm Concealer. For the eyes, she used just a touch of the Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Duo in “Precious Metals” from the lashline to the crease and under the bottom lashes. She boldly lined the upper lid with the Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil in “Smoky Black,” and smudged the outer corner to the lower lashline with a tapered brush. Scali curled the lashes, added a few swipes of mascara, and filled in the brows. To finish the look in classic style, Scali swiped on the Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in “Power Red.”
