From Inception to In-Person: Mara Hoffman Fall 2011

Heavy eyeliner is pretty ubiquitous on the catwalk, but thick, kohl-rimmed, Cleopatra-like eyeliner is much more of a rarity. (Such a shame—as shown below at the AW11 Mara Hoffman presentation, it's really lovely!)

Make Up For Ever key artist Lottie created a radiant, but regal look that was not as subtle as a typical smoky eye, but not nearly as drastic as a sixties cat eye à la Amy Winehouse. To not compete with such dramatic eye makeup, Lottie gave each model a full set of brows, a bronzy sun-kissed glow, and a nude lip, all inspired by the rich beauty of Middle Eastern women.
