B. Balenciaga (pronounced bee-dot for short) has been in the works since Wang became the brand’s creative director, but the fragrance finally hits Neiman Marcus shelves today for $110. Why such a short name for the fresh scent? “It’s straightforward and immediate,” he told InStyle. “It can signify many things, depending on the wearer—but naturally, it’s the essential letter of Balenciaga.”
The perfume channels the designer’s chic downtown doyennes with an aroma meant, “to convey a timeless spirit,” he said. It “reflects a casual elegance that’s not too precious.” The bottle houses a unique blend of earthy and green notes that “could be triggered in different layers upon wear.”Cashmeran woods added a masculine touch to balance the vibrant Lily of the Valley at its heart with violet green leaves and edamame for something surprising and clean. “One of my favorite flowers is Lily of the Valley. It’s delicate and feminine, but powerful in scent,” he told the glossy.
